IDSS Diagnostics Function

When you select the Diagnostics option from the TOC, IDSS will attempt to connect to the vehicle.
Refer to Hardware Connections to review how to connect IDSS to the vehicle.

Current vehicle information will be displayed when IDSS communicates with the vehicle.
After communication is established,

it will be possible to access the following functions.

•DTC(s) –

•Data List

•Actuator Test

•Programming

•Special Functions

•Module Information

DTC(s)

The DTC area in IDSS will provide the following information:

•DTCs set for all communicating modules including: Current, History, and Ignition status.

•DTC information for each communicating module.

•Clear DTC functions for all modules and each specific module.

•Freeze Frame / Failure Record information for DTCs that are currently set.

DTC Description:

The DTC Description screen will display DTC information for all DTCs set.
When a new DTC is set, it will be added to the DTC Description table under the applicable module.

If Freeze Frame / Failure Records are available for the module selected a button will be displayed in the lower right hand corner.

Clear All:

Click the Clear All button to clear DTCs for the module you are viewing. Follow the prompts to clear DTCs.

Freeze Frame / Failure Record

The Freeze Frame / Failure Record function allows the user to request and view current Freeze Frame / Failure Record information.
The user will immediately see the View Snapshot screen once the data collection process is complete.

1.Click the Freeze Frame / Failure Record button to request and view Freeze Frame / Failure Record information.

2.Upon completion of collecting data, the View Freeze Frame / Failure Record screen will appear.

NOTE: Freeze Frame / Failure Record information is not available for all components. This button will only be active
for components that support Freeze Frame / Failure Records.

Data List

ISUZU G-IDSS Data List functionality includes the following:

•Live Data
•Requested DTCs
•Graph
•Quick Snap
•Snapshot
•Zoom View

Live Data

You can view Live Data information for a module by selecting the Data List title in the TOC.

Information for each data list is displayed on a tab along with a Search tab. Click each tab to view the data list information.

Requested DTCs
The Requested DTCs information is displayed in the upper right corner of the data list page. DTCs set will display in the list.
Click on the DTC title to go to the DTC Info screen for the DTC selected.

Zoom Windows

When you click the Zoom Window within a parameter a new window will open.
This window will display “live” values from the vehicle. Multiple parameters can be selected for viewing.

Graph

When you click the Graph icon within a parameter a new window will open.
This window will display “live” values in graph form.

The IDSS graph function can be used as follows:

•Data List information can be graphed “Live” when viewing a data list on vehicle.
•Snapshot information can be graphed.

Graphs can display in an Individual graph format or Overlay graph format for multiple parameter viewing.
Each graph parameter will display in a different color.
The graph colors can be changed, refer to Graph Colors in Utility Functions.

With the Scale Icon of the graph, you can change the vertical axis/horizontal axis.

Quick Snap

The Quick Snap function allows the user to capture data and review it.
The user starts and ends the data collection period by using the Quick Snap button.

1.Click the “Quick Snap” button to trigger and start recording frames.
2.Click the “Stop Snapshot” button to stop recording frames.
3.Upon completing of collecting the data, the Quick Snap view will appear.

Snapshot
The Snapshot function allows the user to capture data and review it.
The user starts and ends the data collection period by using the Snapshot button.

1.Click the Snapshot button and a Snapshot Setup window will display.
2.Click the “Continue” button to open the Snapshot viewer or click the Return button to return to live data.
3.Click the “Trigger” button to start recording frames.
4.Click the “Stop Snapshot” button to stop recording frames.

ISUZU G-IDSS View Quick Snap / Snapshot

The data list information for the Quick Snap / Snapshot will display in the window.
The vehicle and module information for the snapshot will display in the upper left corner of the screen.
The following functions are available:
Play/Pause: Plays or pauses the Snapshot. The button will change from Play to Pause when selected.
Previous Frame: Moves Snapshot view to the previous frame.
Next Frame: Moves Snapshot view to the next frame.
First Frame: Moves Snapshot to the first frame.
Last Frame: Moves multiple Snapshot views to the beginning.
Scroll Bar: Indicates the relative position the Snapshot view is at in the overall Snapshot.
The scroll bar can also be used to quickly move to a different location on the graph.
Save: Opens the Manage Saved Snapshot screen, where you can select previously saved data to view.
Live Data: Return to the previous live data screen.
Actuator Tests/Programming/Special Functions
Special Actuator Tests for each module are available by selecting the
title in the TOC for the module you would like to perform Actuator Tests on.
All Actuator Test titles are displayed in the TOC under that module.
Click each title to view the actuator test functions.

Actuator Test functionality includes the following:
•Actuator Data List
•Test Criteria
•Test Buttons
•Command State

ISUZU G-IDSS SOFTWARE Actuator Test Data List

Data list information that is specific for an actuator test will be listed.
The parameter that the output test is controlling will be listed first in the data list.

Test Criteria

Any conditions that apply to the test that must occur before the test can be
run will be listed here. Conditions such as “Functions Only During Engine Stop!” or “DTCs set”
will be listed here if they apply to that test.

Test Buttons

The buttons that control the test are on the bottom of the screen.
Click the appropriate button to perform the output test selected.

The Quit button must be selected to stop the current test before
selecting another test or a new selection from the TOC.

 

Commanded State

The commanded state of the test will display in this area.
When the user clicks a Test button, the commanded state that the user indicated will display.

For example, clicking the “ON” Test button will set the Commanded State to ON.

 

Module Information

Contains information pertaining to the module selected and the vehicle it is installed in.

View Freeze Frame / Failure Records

The Freeze Frame / Failure Records for each DTC will display in the View Freeze Frame / Failure Records window.
The vehicle and module information for that snapshot will display in the upper left corner of the screen.

Freeze Frame / Failure Records for each DTC are displayed on tabs. Click each tab to view the Freeze Frame / Failure Record information.

The following functions are available:

Save: This stores the current Freeze Frame / Failure Record information that you are viewing.

A pop up message will confirm that the Freeze Frame / Failure Record information was saved.

The Saved Freeze / Frame Failure Records can be found under Utility Functions in the TOC.

DTC Info: Open the DTC Info screen.

Return: Returns to the previous screen.

If you click on Return without saving the data you will see a warning.

Fuel Injector Flow Rates

The Fuel Injector Flow Rates are available by selecting the Controller Programming title in the TOC.
Then, select the ECM module and “Fuel Injector Flow Rates.”

Once you select Fuel Injector Flow Rates, IDSS will connect to the vehicle and display current flow rate information.

You can modify flow rates using the following methods:

•Modify by Injector View
•Modify by Valve Cover View

Modify by Injector View

ISUZU To modify by injector view:

1.Choose “Modify by Injector View”
2.Select the injectors to program.
3.Click the Next button.
4.The current values for each injector you selected to program will display on a tab.
Select the tabs to modify the values.
5.Type the new values in the edit boxes and click the Reprogram Injector Flow Rates button.
6.If there are any incorrect values entered, IDSS will prompt you to correct the problem.

Modify by Valve Cover View
To modify by valve cover view:
1.Choose “Modify by Valve Cover View.” You do not have to select injectors to program.
2.Click the Next button.
3.The current values for all injectors will display.
4.Type the new values in the edit boxes and click the Reprogram Injector Flow Rates button.
5.If there are any incorrect values entered, IDSS will prompt you to correct the problem.

NOTE: The engine must not be running when fuel injectors are programmed.

6.Once correct values are accepted, follow the on screen instructions to program the flow rates.
